LOCATION

Podi Gedara is located 5.9 kilometres from the Colombo expressway off ramp in Thalpe on the Galle-Matara Road. It is on the
south west coast of Sri Lanka. The closest city is Galle which is less than a 20 minute drive from Podi Gedara.

Podi Gedara is located on the most salubrious section of the southern coast of Sri Lanka known as Thalpe. It is a true tropical
paradise with swaying palm trees, golden beaches, renown sunsets and cool sea breezes.

Galle Fort is a 20 minute tuk tuk ride from Podi Gedara. The Fort is an outstanding example of a 16th century UNESCO World Heritage site. Built originally by the Portugese, rebuilt by the Dutch and successively added to by the British, it is a great place to explore with its antiques, arts and crafts, stunning jewellery stores, cafes and restaurants or stroll the ramparts and finish the day with a gelato or cocktail on one of the cool cafe verandahs.

For international arrivals:

Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) is located 30 kilometres north of Colombo. Travel time between the airport and Colombo varies around one hour. Podi Gedara is located 126 kilometres south of Colombo on the south west coast however the route to Podi Gedara via the expressway is significantly faster than the coastal road. Vehicle transfers from BIA to Podi Gedara take between 2 and 3 hours depending on your arrival time. We are fortunate that Podi Gedara is located less than 15 minutes from the expressway off-ramp on the Galle-Matara Road.
